2021 Hyundai Elantra

The 2021 Hyundai Elantra has been redesigned and has a fresh look. Already a popular car, its snazzier look this year will make heads turn. Combined with the features that we know Hyundai cars are known for, it’s no wonder that the Elantra was named 2021 North American Car of the Year by the NACTOY media jury. Let’s explore the reasons that make the Elantra so popular.

Basics About the 2021 Hyundai Elantra

The Elantra was launched in 1990 and has undergone several upgrades through the years. Originally assembled in South Korea, Hyundai opened a manufacturing plant in 2005. The Elantra, classified as a four-door sedan, is one of three models that are being assembled in the Montgomery, AL factory, with designers and engineers across California and Michigan.

Trims

The Elantra now comes only in four trims: the SE, SEL, N Line, and Limited. Previous years had the SE, SEL, Value, Eco, Limited, and Sport. The Elantra Hatchback, which was redesigned in 2018, has been discontinued for 2021 in the United States.

Pricing

The starting MSRP for the Elantra’s basic trim, the SE, is $19,650 making it one of the most affordable cars in its class. The MSRP for its most expensive trim, the Limited, starts at $25,450, and if you decide you want all the accessories that are available, it only adds another $1,600 to the cost of the car.

New/Unique Features

What’s New

Aside from its sleek new look, Hyundai introduced a new trim for the Elantra, the N Line, with six-speed manual transmission. It has more power with its 1.6 turbocharged four-cylinder, giving it a strong 201 horsepower engine. The N Line also comes with a multi-link rear suspension and 18-inch alloy wheels. Other differences you’ll find from the other trims are its full LED taillights, chrome twin exhaust outlets, glass black window trims, and more.

Still in preproduction is the 2021 Hybrid model, which should give you over 50 MPG and fewer trips to the gas station. You can also expect more comfortable drives with its independent multi-link rear suspension. The hybrid model will come with a choice of two trims, the SEL and Limited.

Nice Features

Standard on the Elantra, even on its most basic trim, are features that other car makers don’t have on their cheapest trims. Foremost among them are the Wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and eight-inch display audio system. Then, you have the safety features such as Blind Spot Collisions Avoidance Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Collisions Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Driver Attention Warning, and so much more.

The ability to add upgrades such as heated front seats and outdoor mirrors, wireless charging pad, and power driver seat with lumbar support is an added convenience as it gives the driver more reason to appreciate the Elantra over its competitors.
