Hyundai’s Kona is a subcompact SUV boasting a dependable, fuel-efficient powertrain and a roomy cabin offering many top-notch amenities. Its varied configurations are sure to appeal to a wide range of drivers. Let’s take an in-depth look at each of the 2024 Hyundai Kona‘s trims.

Kona SE

As the base trim, the Kona SE is motivated by a naturally aspirated 2.0L inline-4 making 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. Hyundai’s Intelligent Variable Transmission delivers that performance effortlessly and helps achieve prompt acceleration and an EPA-estimated fuel economy of up to 34 MPG highway. Responsive, predictable handling results from a well-tuned suspension featuring MacPherson front struts and a rear torsion beam.

Available HTRAC (Hyundai TRACtion) AWD performs over 100 calculations per second to determine the ideal amount of torque distribution and braking force for maximum grip. Standard driver assists are numerous and include rear cross-traffic alerts and a driver attention monitoring system. Along with spacious seating for five, the SE gets a feature-loaded 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen system supporting wireless smartphone integration.

Kona SEL

Powertrain options remain the same for the SEL, but it switches out SE’s 17-inch alloy wheels for a set of 18-inchers then adds heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals and roof side rails.

The Kona’s already inviting cabin gets a slew of premium features with the SEL trim, such as dual-zone climate control, an 8-way power driver’s seat, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The available Convenience Package brings heated front seats, mood-enhancing ambient lighting, and connected navigation.

Kona N Line

N Line models promise a genuinely sporty drive with its 190-horsepower 1.5L turbo inline-4 and 8-speed automatic transmission with standard paddle shifters. The exterior features 19-inch alloy wheels and stylish N Line cues like a blacked-out front fascia, body-colored cladding, and a twin-tipped exhaust system.

Inside the N Line, you’ll find deeply bolstered front sport seats with black Alcantara and N Line logos. Red interior trim on the seats and dashboard, plus a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster further contribute to the racy feeling of the cabin. The standard 8-speaker Bose sound system is a fine cherry on top of the Kona N Line’s compelling package.

Kona Limited

For buyers favoring a luxurious ride over sportier styling, the Kona Limited comes packed with top-notch creature comforts. It’s powered by the turbocharged 1.5L engine and makes it easier to maneuver in tight spaces with its standard surround view monitor, creating a 360-degree, top-down view of the vehicle.

The Limited is equipped with plush H-Tex leatherette-wrapped seats, ventilated front seats, and a heated steering wheel, which will have you looking forward to any trip. You’ll also notice that the cabin features a more generous use of soft-touch materials.
