A Hyundai steering wheel

Your Hyundai has a great engine that’s powerful yet fuel-efficient at the same time. This engine requires regular services to enable it to work at its best. Components gradually wear out or suffer damage, and this can lead to engine problems. Fortunately, in Butler, PA, your Hyundai dealer is here to repair them for you. These are a few of the many issues we can fix when necessary.

Failing Alternator

A failing alternator will lead to serious problems for your car. The alternator is responsible for generating electricity for your car’s systems, devices, and peripherals. This means any alternator problem can result in further problems for every system in your car. Fortunately, an alternator will rarely simply fail. There are always warning signs that something is going wrong.

Frequent electrical anomalies, starting problems, and strange noises are just a few of the signs that an alternator is wearing out. The battery warning light will also illuminate to signal problems in the electrical system as the supply of electricity gradually diminishes. Our technicians can test your alternator and replace it if it’s the cause of the problems.

Clogged Radiator

The radiator is part of your cooling system responsible for removing heat from the engine. Heat radiating from the engine components is absorbed by coolant that’s pumped through the engine. The coolant transports the heat to the radiator, where the heat is rapidly removed by heat exchange. The coolant can also absorb dirt and other debris in the engine, and this is also brought into the radiator.

Once the heat is removed, the coolant flows out of the radiator but it leaves behind the debris it collected. Debris will accumulate and can eventually block the tubes, hoses, and other parts of the radiator. A blocked radiator reduces the amount of coolant that can be cooled, which increases your engine temperature. We can fix this problem by flushing the radiator to remove any blockages.

Thick Exhaust Smoke

Under normal circumstances, exhaust smoke is thin and whispy. If your exhaust starts to produce thick white smoke, these clouds are a warning that water has entered the exhaust system. Coolant, responsible for removing heat from your engine, is the usual source of the water as it’s composed of a 50.50 mix of water and antifreeze.

The upper and lower sections of your engine have a thick seal called the head gasket. The head gasket prevents fluids the movement of fluid and pressure between the two engine sections. A damaged head gasket can allow coolant to cross the barrier and enter the exhaust. We’ll examine the gasket and replace it if it’s damaged.
