2021 Hyundai Venue
In 2020, Hyundai added a brand-new crossover to its lineup. The Venue is a subcompact SUV that boasts an affordable starting price point, along with a roomy cargo area and stylish exterior accents. Here is our review of the 2021 Hyundai Venue.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
This small crossover SUV comes in three trim levels — SE, SEL, and Denim — each featuring unique conveniences. First off, the SE trim comes standard with a set of 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, automatic projector-beam headlights, power-adjustable and body-color side mirrors, and a sleek black front grille. In the middle of the pack is the SEL, which has 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, roof side rails, and a chrome front grille. You can also add features like heated side mirrors, a power sunroof, and LED headlights, taillights, and daytime running lights. The Denim trim has the most distinct profile in the lineup. It features a contrasting white roof with complementary white trim pieces, exclusive exterior paint color options, heated side mirrors, and the LED lighting package, which is optional the SEL.
Engine (Power)
Beneath the hood of the 2021 Venue, you'll find a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 113 pound-feet of torque and 121 horsepower. This powertrain works with a continuously variable transmission that sends power to the front wheels. The intelligent variable transmission also provides impressive efficiency, with EPA fuel economy estimates coming in at 30 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. The combined estimate is 31 mpg, which is quite impressive for a crossover SUV.
Performance
If you frequently drive in slick or snowy road conditions, check out the selectable driving mode system that comes standard on the upper two trim levels. Thanks to this system, you can choose from three modes — Normal, Sport, and Snow — to accommodate the way you drive and the current conditions. The Venue also boasts fairly quick acceleration as well as smooth, responsive brakes. Its small size also allows you to zip around corners and into tight parking spots with ease.
Interior
Standard interior features for the 2021 Venue include cloth upholstery, manually adjustable front seats, a 60/40 split-folding rear seat, dual-stage cargo storage options with a stowable rear luggage shelf, and manual climate control. On the tech side, the SE includes an 8-inch touch screen with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, a four-speaker audio system, and Bluetooth connectivity. Step up to the SEL and your Venue will come standard with a leather-wrapped steering wheel, automatic climate control, and dual USB charging. The optional Technology package adds heated front seats, keyless entry and ignition, navigation, and Hyundai's Blue Link system that includes communication functions and emergency telematics. Most of those features are standard on the Denim trim, along with simulated leather and cloth upholstery.
Safety Features
Every 2021 Hyundai Venue comes equipped with a rearview camera, anti-lock brakes, forward collision avoidance assist with pedestrian detection, a driver attention warning system, lane-keep assist, air bags throughout the seating area, and stability and traction control. The top two trim levels also have blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.
