2023 Hyundai Kona
The Hyundai Kona has been an incredibly popular and award-winning small SUV for several years in row. The 2023 Kona has even earned Car and Driver's Editor's Choice award. The surprisingly nimble performance, quality interior materials, abundance of driver assist features, and three years of complimentary maintenance make the 2023 Hyundai Kona not only an excellent buy, but a leader in its class.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2023 Hyundai Kona comes in four gas-powered trim levels: the economical SE, the upgraded SEL, the sporty N Line, and the fully loaded Limited. Color options on the 2023 Hyundai Kona differ depending on the trim selected. The SE and Limited trims feature eight paint options, including silver, black, white, red, and teal, and the SEL trim comes with three dual-tone color options in addition to five single color paint options.
All trim levels of the 2023 Kona come standard with LED daytime running lights, while the Limited trim adds LED headlights and taillights. Underfoot, the 2023 Kona sports alloy wheels with 16-inch (SE), 17-inch (SEL), or 18-inch (N Line and Limited) diameters. The N Line also has a unique, trim-specific wheel design.
Engine (Power)
There are two different engine options on the gas-powered 2023 Konas. The SE and SEL Konas feature a 2.0-liter multi-point injection four-cylinder engine that outputs a respectable 147 horsepower, which is plenty of oomph to get you and your gear around town. The N Line and Limited trims get a nearly 50 horsepower boost with a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline direct injection four-cylinder engine that produces 195 horsepower. The Kona also deftly combines power and efficiency. The front-wheel-drive Konas have an EPA-estimated 32 combined mpg rating while the all-wheel-drive configurations are just slightly lower at 29 combined mpg.
Performance
The 2023 Hyundai Kona offers a pleasantly smooth and inspiring ride. The SE and SEL trims come equipped with an Intelligent Variable Transmission, while the peppier N Line and Limited trims feature a seven-speed EcoShift Dual Clutch Transmission. Additionally, with Hyundai's Drive Mode Select standard on all trims, you can customize the drive feel to match your mood or the external driving conditions.
Interior
The 2023 Kona seats up to five passengers on cloth upholstery on the SE, SEL, and N Line trims and leather-trimmed upholstery on the Limited. The rear seats have 60/40 split fold-down seatbacks that, when lowered, create 45.8 cubic feet of cargo volume.
All Konas come standard with an infotainment touchscreen: 8 inches on the SE and 10.25 inches on the N Line and Limited trims or with the Convenience Package on the SEL. The N Line and Limited trims also come with heated front seats, a sunroof, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. These options are available on the SEL with the Convenience Package.
Safety Features
Hyundai offers some of the best standard safety features of any brand. All trim levels of the Kona come off the manufacturing floor with blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian detection (FCA-Ped), lane following and lane keeping assist, driver attention warning, safe exit warning, and rear occupant alert. The Limited trim adds cyclist detection to FCA-Ped, parking distance warning – reverse, highway driving assist, and high-beam assist.
